Sr. User Interface Engineer
We are looking for an experienced User Interface Engineer to join our design team in support of various agoraBlue clients. Candidates are required to be able to build and implement complex interactions in collaboration with product designers. The position is part-time or freelance and reports to the Technical Lead.
Responsibilities
- Work with designers to implement and maintain user-facing features for a large government audience
- Deliver products of the highest quality through strict attention to visual and interaction details
- Code primarily using C# and JavaScript
- Identify and communicate best practices for front-end engineering
- Develop new core UI libraries for use in various clients
- Create and maintain robust multi-user database(s) in a SQL Server and Oracle Server environment. This includes:
- Installing and upgrading the SQL/Oracle server and application tools
- Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system
- Creating primary database storage structures based on application design
- Creating primary objects (tables, views, indexes) based on application design
- Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers
- Enrolling users and maintaining system security
- Ensuring compliance with your license agreement(s)
- Controlling and monitoring user access to the database(s)
- Monitoring and optimizing the performance of database(s)
- Planning for backup and recovery of database(s) information
- Backing up and restoring the database(s)
- Research and analyze various data source systems, applications and perform data research/analysis
- Work within a structured, source controlled environment under the guidance of standard operating procedures
- Provide project, system and other technical documentation as required
Requirements
- Expertise in ASP.Net, C#, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, and XML
- Ability to write well-abstracted, reusable code for common UI components in C# and JavaScript
- Ability to create interfaces that are fast, consistent across browsers, and demonstrate an intimate knowledge of browser quirks and best practices
- Experience crafting efficient, optimized, and speed-minded code
- Excellent oral and written skills
- Expert language skills in Transact-SQL and Oracle PL/SQL
- Knowledge and experience with PL/SQL, ANSII standard SQL, Apex/HTMLDB, and Java
- 3+ years of experience building web or desktop applications
Bonus
- Database administration experience
- Experience with user testing and complicated workflow design
- Experience with writing web services in C#
- Experience with data integration technologies like Microsoft DTS, Microsoft Integration Services, and/or Oracle SOA/BPEL/Service Bus
- Knowledge of other media software packages - web, video editing, audio editing, etc

Web/Graphic Developer/Designer
We are looking for an experienced web designer/developer to join our design team in support of various clients. Our design team will require that you have a broad knowledge of different design disciplines, excellent communication skills, and experience. This is a part-time or freelance position and will report to the Product Design Lead.
Responsibilities
- Define and implement the forms and behaviors of various client web applications primarily using ASP.Net.
- Develop web pages, graphics, web tools, and robust content management systems
- Perform wire framing, template writing, testing, debugging, and documentation
- As a member of the design team you will provide expert advice and work estimations for the development and maintenance of various web applications.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience building web applications
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles
- Expert in the following: ASP.Net, C#, XHTML, CSS
- Knowledge and experience with the following: JavaScript, XML, Flex, Flash, ActionScript
- Expertise in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and PowerPoint
- Excellent oral and written skills
- Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL
- Mastery of web design principles, information design, typography, color, and layout
- Understanding of security issues and defensive programming techniques
- Ability to present your designs and sell your solutions to various stakeholders
